Embryo Transfer

Pioneering work and attention to detail for over 20 years has made the embryo transfer program at Equine Medical Services one of the largest and most successful in the country.  Over 5,000 foals from approximately 30 breeds have been produced as a result of EMS embryo transfers.

Embryo transfer is primarily used to produce multiple foals from outstanding producers, mares in competition or training, or from mares with fertility problems.  The breeding process can be performed, monitored and the embryo recovered at Equine Medical Services or the breeding and embryo recovery can take place at another location and the embryo shipped to EMS for transfer to a recipient mare.

With a recipient herd of over 800 mares, Equine Medical Services has several mares ready to receive an embryo on any given day.
